Critical Thermal Increment for the Movement of Oscillatoria
نویسندگان
چکیده
In a species of Oscillatoria exhibiting movement of type suitable for exact measurement the velocity of linear translatory motion is found to be controlled by the temperature (6 - 36 degrees C.) in accordance with Arrhenius' equation for irreversible reactions. The value of the critical increment (micro) is 9,240. The extreme variates in series of measurements at different temperatures yield the same value of micro. The velocity of movement is therefore regarded as determined by the velocity of an underlying chemical process, controlled by the temperature and by the amount of a substance (? catalyst) whose effective quantity at any moment varies within definite limits in different filaments of the alga. On the basis of its temperature characteristic the locomotion of Oscillatoria is compared with certain other processes for which this constant is calculated.

Nonlinear vibration analysis of axially moving strings in thermal environment
In this study, nonlinear vibration of axially moving strings in thermal environment is investigated. The vibration haracteristics of the system such as natural frequencies, time domain response and stability states are studied at different temperatures. The velocity of the axial movement is assumed to be constant with minor harmonic variations. It is presumed that the system and the environment...
متن کاملTemperature Characteristics for Speed of Movement of Thiobacteria.*
The gliding movements of certain Cyanophyceae, Thiobacteriales, and gregarines provide relatively uncomplicated types of comparable activities suitable for quantitative observation. In spite of much discussion, little is known as to the mechanism of this sort of progression. Interpretations have been advanced by a number of writers, t but data required for formulation of a theory of this sort o...
متن کاملThermal negativity in a two qubit XXX and XX spin chain model in an external magnetic field
In this paper we studied the thermal negativity in a two-qubit XX spin ½ chain model and XXX spin1/2 chain model(isotropic Heisenberg model)spin-1/2 chain subjected to an external magnetic field inz direction. We calculate analytical relation for the thermal negativity for two qubit XX and XXX spinchain models in the external magnetic field. Effects of the magnetic field and temperature on then...
متن کاملThe Density-Driven Nanofluid Convection in an Anisotropic Porous Medium Layer with Rotation and Variable Gravity Field: A Numerical Investigation
In this study, a numerical examination of the significance of rotation and changeable gravitational field on the start of nanofluid convective movement in an anisotropic porous medium layer is shown. A model that accounts for the impact of Brownian diffusion and thermophoresis is used for nanofluid, while Darcy’s law is taken for the porous medium. The porous layer is subjected to uniform rotat...
متن کاملPreparation of MCM-41 nanofluid and an investigation of Brownian movement of the nanoparticles on the nanofluid conductivity
In this investigation the silicate nano structure of MCM-41 has been used for the production of nanofluid. The particles have negligible heat conductivity and therefore by their dispersion in a base fluid like water, it is possible to study the increase of heat conductivity due to the Brownian motion effects. In this work a suitable apparatus for the measurement of heat conductivity has been bu...
